The convergence of traditional voice, data, and video services
through various networks presents major legal and policy
issues. The affected areas include cable television, radio
and television broadcasting, content providers, internet
access and service, and other communications-related product
and service groups.
The firm provides representation of clients in establishing
new channels and/or networks, works closely with licensees
to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and participates
in the negotiation of purchases and sales, employment and
noncompetition agreements. Our lawyers also counsel on legal
and regulatory changes affecting broadcast clients and provide
representation in numerous rulemaking proceedings.
The firm represents entertainment industry clients involved in
the creation, acquisition and dissemination of television programming,
including digital programming services. We also represent, in
a variety of matters, movie studios and production companies,
radio and television, production and distribution of motion pictures,
record labels and music publishing companies. We work with cable
company clients in reviewing the affiliation agreements pursuant
to which such clients acquire programming from the producers of
various types of programming. We also advise on matters pertaining
to rights, ownership, and potential claims and liabilities. We
represent plaintiffs, defendants and other interested parties
in copyright, trademark, unfair competition, trade secret, licensing,
misappropriation and related judicial and administrative trials
and appeals.
